Meet the dancer trying to charm Sir Richard Branson.
Sapphira is a London based burlesque showgirl, singer/songwriter and teacher with international acclaim. Following her own recovery from severe mental illness she has founded Sapphira’s Showgirls, Ibiza Burlesque Festival and Domina Records with a revolutionary agenda in the entertainment industry to combine sound healing, positivity and self-expression with provocative performance art and powerful electronic music inviting her students to come along for a transformational experience.
A certified Soul Voice® Practitioner, the highlights of Sapphira’s performance career are winning the support of Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Atlantic with her Valentine’s Declaration ‘My Heart Belongs To Branson‘, posing for renowned Australian artist Charles Billich, presenting Dita Von Teese with the first Sapphira’s Showgirls 2014 Calendar, a symbol of women’s empowerment through self-expression. Her roles as Electra in the Nova Music Theatre’s production of the famous broadway musical, Gypsy, performing at Bath Fringe Festival (UK), Komedia (UK), Madame Jojo’s (UK), Ministry of Sound (UK), Pacha (UK), Rainbow Serpent Festival (AU), Burning Man Festival (USA), London Burlesque Festival and opening for legendary DJ Dimitri from Paris and Monarchy )Dita Von Teese’s music producers) have honed her own understanding of the finite transformation and therapeutic benefits of live performance art. This learning forms the ethos of the Sapphira’s Showgirls Burlesque Academy where, accompanied by her expert team, she has aided women world-wide to connect with their inner-showgirls and improve their confidence.
‘Like most girls, I’ve had body confidence issues for ever, never skinny enough, boobs too small…bum too big…you name it. It’s so fantastic to see all shapes and sizes celebrated and proud of their femininity.’ Fleur Tayshus
It was at the age of 5 Sapphira found her first love sitting at the keys of a piano, she wrote her first song at the age of 8 and won her first talent quest at 15. She now passes on fun, joy and freedom in her dance classes, at shows and through her songwriting.
She recruits performers from her classes to accompany her out into the entertainment industry and her entertainers have appeared at the Herald Sun’s 25th Anniversary opening for Kate Ceberano and X Factor Winner Nathaniel as well as on Australia’s Got Talent, at Madame Jojo’s in London, plus for the Ministry of Burlesque at the Bath Fringe Festival.
“Captain of the sparkle squad.”
No stranger to hard work Sapphira managed 3 careers when she relocated from Melbourne to London in 2003. With 10 years pioneering burlesque in the UK and Australia she has balanced a demanding international advertising sales role working for market leading media companies including eBookers, Future Publishing, British Telecom, CBS Interactive, Faceparty, Hobsons UK, Sensis and MySpace.com whilst also sourcing top dance music producers to further her songwriting.
From Naples to Bristol, Sapphira has travelled the globe seeking those who could develop her music, resonating with an innate need for sound that is dark, provocative, erotic and powerful. Collaborations with world-renowned producers include Audiofly, Ways & Means, Tonestepa, Youthful Implants, Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Kayden and she learnt in the studio with Planet Funk. Her songs have been supported by Sasha, Danny Howells and Nic Fanciulli, with Faithless choosing ‘Circles’ for a Renaissance compilation.

She was supported by Benefit Cosmetics setting the RecordSetter World Record ‘Fastest Glove Peel Relay’, she worked with Sony Pictures promoting the movie BURLESQUE in Australia, signed cult London make-up brand, Illamasqua to a national sponsorship deal as they entered the Australian market and has included the hosiery of elite lingerie brand, Agent Provocateur, in her music video.
